My Approach to Horsemanship - Bob Grave
There are, of course, many different types and styles of horsemanship, all marketed and branded in their own way. The options are vast and opinions even greater - from traditional to natural horsemanship and everything in between.
My approach is to keep things as simple and as clear as possible, as I try and turn my horses into well-adapted and willing individuals. When working with my horses, I have this real desire to feel important in their lives and be someone they can depend on.
Preparing them mentally is a key desire so I can have their fullest attention, whether working on the ground or in the saddle.
This allows the physical ability to develop and for true potential to shine through. It also means the horses can remain mentally stimulated and engaged during training sessions.
Many of the techniques and skills I use are mastered on the ground before being practised in the saddle. Once this fundamental knowledge is in place, it can be developed and built upon.
It gives me great joy in sharing my horsemanship knowledge and methods, helping people achieve and overcome their horse challenges.
Whether demonstrating at shows, teaching group or one-on-one sessions - or displaying at special events, I am available for bookings in the Southwest of England.
